Lucy Corkhill is a freelance journalist and author. She worked for ten years as sub-editor and health writer for the UK’s number one green lifestyle magazine, The Green Parent, and for the last three years wrote their weekly web content.
After gaining a BA in English Literature from Sussex University, she went on to study Creative Writing through the university’s CCE programme and then Advanced Creative Writing with Susannah Waters at New Writing South. Lucy is also a trained holistic therapist, specialising in reflexology and aromatherapy. Although she no longer practises, she felt privileged to support pregnant, birthing and post-natal women and their families for over a decade.
The sea has been the backdrop to many of life’s adventures and she once lived on a magical 90 year old wooden cruising yacht called Whimbrel. Alongside her husband, she lived for three years at one of the iconic coastguard cottages at Cuckmere Haven, which they ran as an arts and workshop venue, and as a film location for clientele as diverse as Daniel Radcliffe to Ellie Goulding and Nick Cave.
The first short story Lucy sent out into the world was selected out of over 1000 entries as one of the five winning stories of the 2015 Bath Short Story Award – Lucy won the Acorn Award. You can buy the anthology here. A novel, Unmasked, is currently a work in progress – whet your appetite with an excerpt here.
She lives in her beloved East Sussex countryside with her husband, their adopted son and daughter, two cats and a dog.
